Yeah, their work space is messy. Like a good kitchen. From the chaos comes something al dente - clean to the teeth.
Can you match some of these writers/artists/bloggers to their sites? Hints follow photos. Winner gets my unread copy of Deepak Chopra's "Organize Your Life."

They are not in this order, I assure you:
Sonia, Brazilian journalist, who was tardy with her photo. Admits that desk seldom looks so tidy.
Teacher/writer/gardener Christina Wenger
Lawyer/blogger Mr Earl
Photographer/blogger Chieftess
Actress/writer Petrea Burchard, who recently finished her book, Camelot and Vine.
Librarian, historian, and essayist Arizona Brenda.
Artist, Jean Spitzer (I have an original, by the by)
Businesswoman/blogger Modern Day Ozzie and Harriet
Artist, critic, PJ.
Mary! and Mary.

Whoever is responsible for the second photo, the one with the yellow chair, we need to compare notes!
I think, Karin, you're now qualified to come and see my etchings. If I can find them, that is.
What makes these illustrated work areas special is that, unlike the previous entries, the corresponding people are actually producing vital work at their desks. And providing things for cats to knock to the floor as well as giving them resting spots that are sure to impede progress. And they're auditioning their beverage holders. I also thought I would mention that my camera is there - it's just, you know, lurking...
Am I right in thinking PA might be working like a house on fire???
wv sicnsuc
I leave you to draw your own conlusions.
1. Modern day ozzy 2. Paula 3. Sonia 4. Mr Earl
5 (black and white) 6. Brenda 7. Jean *8 Petrea
9. Chieftess 10. Mary 11. Christinia
that was fun
Paula, you're wrong about PA. No PA was hurt in the construction of this post.
PA I think you're wrong on all counts, though you might be right on one -- not sure, I wrote them down and it's around here, somewhere...
PA got TheChieftess right...but then...afterall...there is a pic of TheChief on the file cabinet!
I'm thinking number 10 is Sonia, the brilliant journalist!!!
Lands sakes. Impressive! The creativity is certainly overflowing in these examples. {Whichever one's Petrea's, it bears no resemblance to the photo she sent me one day. To be fair, it was a close-up. A very tidy-looking close-up.}
What's kind of sad is that I think that these spaces are all pretty tidy--and were probably tidied up for the photo. Except of course for the burning building, which I also attribute to PA, even if you claim she's not involved.
Karin, I hope you don't reveal the answers...
Actually when I saw that second photo I thought someone had snuck in and took a photo of my desk.
I object! As a member of the first group (although I didn't send a photo), I'm with Karen. She's a business writer, I'm a technical writer. If I have anything extraneous on my desk, my mind immediately starts to wander. Coffee cups are a necessity, though.
It wasn't the chief that gave you away Chieftess - it was your copyright in the corner
Even before I read the list I thought of Christina when I saw the open notebook and the Trader Joe's bag. And the cow tray! Maybe it was the cow tray. But now I don't know why that would make me think of Christina. She's a teacher. Hers is probably the one with the big memo board on the left side, I'm sure I'm wrong, oh, how awful.
Photo #2 is superbly chaotic; I think it belongs in the next post.
I would have guessed #8 belonged to the Chieftess but I've already been proven wrong. Maybe #8 is Paula.
Shell: the item on which I focused in the photo I sent you is in the photo Karin posted, though it's slightly blocked.
Sonia gives herself away with Leaves of Grass.
Karin, it was nice of you to plug my book. Is anybody out there know a literary agent?
The phrase "Holy crap" comes to mind.
And of course the London Blitz (or wherever it was) made me laugh.
K, actually, it's Berlin.
These are some pretty sad guesses. Sonia is a gimme, and now Chieftess. Petrea, you got one right...
I have been missing a document for two weeks... now I see it in the photo of my desk. Thanks for opening my eyes, Karin!!
I love the piggy bank on the photo below the Berlin photo. Pretty cool...
So I got Sonia!
Glad I wasn't drinking anything while reading this...especially when I got to Brenda's Arizona who found her missing document in the photo!!!
Thank you TheChieftess for the compliment.
Petrea you are right, I give myself away...
I admit that my desk not always looks so tidy. Many times it is a mess... Yes Jean Spitzer, I tidied up my desk for the photo...
Witty post, Karin!
I keep good company. Do I get an award for best organized chaos? You can't see my second phone in my picture, and I never take beverages into my office for fear of killing paperwork or electronics. So there are 2 clues for everyone. I can't answer, because I'd have to say which one is mine!
Marjie, biggest clue would be to say you don't live in earthquake country.
Well, we did have an earthquake last summer, but it was only a 5. I thought Thor was kicking my chair. So you make a fair point.
I'll take a wild guess and say that Marjie's space is photo number 4!
I enlarged. The one with the cow tray has to be Jean's. There's an area code that gives her away.
Now to figure out Mary's.
Of course that's Jean! I thought the drawings would give it away. And yes, Marjie on #4. Someone guessed Christina. (Oh, Bren, eventually they'll get you -- process of elimination.) But has no one guessed Petrea? Paula? Earl? Ms M?
Earl is Berlin I think.
The one with all the Post-its is Petrea?
Yours is he one with the tiny horse?
Maybe PA's is the last one as I think she might be a bit of a Luddite.
This IS fun.
Boy, go away for a couple of weeks and look at all I've missed. I love your contest and if I had to pick the category my work area would be in, it would definitely be the "Now You're Talking" slot, right down to the ever present coffee cup. (Though sometimes it's tea :)
One of these is PA's? Burning building. None of the rest of them are artsy enough.
Ich bin ein berliner; The burning building, it's me. But the others -- not artsy enough? Fie. Try again.
I'm thinking Petrea is #3!!!
And maybe Mr E is #7?
Oh my, I wouldn't have a hope of linking these workspaces up with the bloggers. My eyes are all bugged out, at the moment. Whoa!
These are great! A fun challenge to sort out.
My desktop is one of these. A clue: there aren't any cups/bottles of liquid, because, like Marj, I don't want to fry any electronics.
Let's see: 1. Mr. Earl? 2. artist P.J.? 3. Petrea 6. Christina?
The burning building made me laugh. They say fire can be a cleansing thing.
Impressive workspaces and impressive sleuthing! I think Petrea's got the orange mug. That's the only guess I'll hazard.
Ah-ha!!! Petrea's is #3, I agree! Thank you, Petrea - it took a while, but I found your clue. It seems so obvious now.
Very fun challenge, Karin, but I could not yet to linking all these desks with the bloggers... I will see again...
I now feel justified and validated. Although I must say I hope I never have a whiteboard in my office.
8 and 11 seem to have a certain kinship.
#10 - A framed BACON award?? What is it?
Ok, I hope I have this right:
1- PJ
2- This was the most popular workspace, and it belongs to Arizona's own Brenda
3- Petrea
4- Marjie
6- Christina
7- Jean
8- Ms Mary
9- Chieftess
10- Sonia
11- Mr. Earl
Oh damn, I didn't think you'd really tell... (heehee!).
Pass me those cameras, they won't miss them! And who is the neatnik you slipped in ? I can't begin to guess.
Gotta run straighten up my desk. :)
V
I think Brenda's belongs in the next post!
These are really fun.
Whoops, the bacon award was on the previous post. Just captured me...
Petrea, perhaps we can do a photo tour of our whole house? It doesn't get any better. I live with a 'mad scientist'... really, it doesn't get any better. But it sure is fun!
Brenda: If I ever visit, you won't need to straighten up. I'll feel right at home. I have that exact same dining room table. And many other tables just like it!
Living with a mad scientist makes it all worth it, Brenda.
I'm actually feeling a bit impressed with myself now.
I abhor tidy desks!
Please tell us who shot that amazing burning building photo!! Ken
