The Great Albert
"I wouldn’t ask too much of her," I ventured. "You can’t repeat the past."
"Can’t repeat the past?" he cried incredulously. "Why of course you can!"
He looked around him wildly, as if the past were lurking here in the shadow of his house, just out of reach of his hand.
"I’m going to fix everything just the way it was before," he said, nodding determinedly. "She’ll see."

....and did she?? :-)
What bit of trickery is this?! Perhaps the spirit of Albert is still prowling about, the little rascal.
Funny how we have a similar theme today. *smile*
who dat?
who dat wearing Phebes collar?
Relaxed looking dogs.
I love The Great Albert. Who is his friend? What have I missed?
Touché.
This little girl jumps our 7-foot wall whenever she can sneak out of her own house. Then I let her stay and play for the day if I'm working at home, and take her back when her owner returns from her job.
I know Albert wants to make this a permanent arrangement, but I don't see that happening.
maybe Albert should jump that 7' wall? lol....
So lovely to see Albert and Phoebe comfortably and cozy together!
Who is Albert's friend?
Paraphrase: "I looked around... as if the past were lurking here in the shadow of my house, just out of reach of her soft paws..."
Sweet!
(Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass)
Or it could be like a Vertigo thing where Albert dyes her hair and changes her collar and all of a sudden she looks like Kim Novak.
Awwww...I miss Phoebe!!! Looks like Albert's found an acceptable friend though!
I think Albert is unlike Gatsby. Albert has moved on. He just likes his soft spot.
Looks like it was a great party. "The Great Albert" -- perfect.
Great Albert, indeed.
KBF, to combine your two comments, we would if he could. But Albert could no more scale a 7 foot fence than I could.
Carolynn, we do! And you're to blame.
PA, it does look strangely like Phoebe's garment, but it isn't.
Marjie, Tash, Ms M, and Jean, I drop in an FSF quote whenever possible.
Sonia, I thought about that...
Kenny Mac, you New Yawkers are so clever.
Margaret, maybe I should have quoted P&P?
Albert apparently trains them to do his bidding. Or perhaps it's the other way around. Either way, they seem comfortable with the arrangement and Albert is indeed great, in his own way.
Very sweet.
The past is never the same... ever.
Karin, it's sweet of you to let the Albert's friend stay and play for the day. Looks both are good friends. "Bons amigos", in Portuguese.
Have a good weekend.
Sweet photos, old and new.
Did I tell you I'm in total control of my house, and dogs aren't allowed on the sofa?
One of the great passages--Albert deserves it. Great photos too. Glad he has a new . . . pal?
It looks like Albert has some good moves that work well for him. "Hey baby, you want to share a sofa with me?"
looks like Albert has the crow's nest location for both the sofa and picking up chicks.
am glad he and you, are tolerant of having his guests...on the couch or not.
and lol on control KB...yeah, riiight!
Sweet sweet Albert. How could you possibly tell them to get off the couch when Albert looks at you like that?
DB, I'm afraid that's too smooth for Al. Trish & Katie, I have very little say in the matter.
She's magnificent, and I'm so glad she makes the effort. Albert looks very happy with her company. {Personally, I think transference can be a very healthy thing.} Love the quote too, KB.
Albert has some competition: Tommy likes her too. Lucky for Albert Louise won't let this beauty anywhere near our house.
Albert, aka Hugh Hefner.
Hugh Hefner has NOTHING on Albert. He only wishes he was as smooth with the ladies.
Albert may not have a matching bank account, but at least he's young and handsome.
I think Albert is much more appealing than the Hef...
