Fireworks

Anyone know a simple new blogger format similar to the old one? I can't even put in space between my pictures and my text. So I removed all my text (the words of which, needless to say, were the cleverest, the most insightful I've ever written. They would have made you weep with their perspicacity, rueful humor, and similarity to Mark Twain, the Huckleberry Finn years. And don't expect to ever read those words, because I deleted the whole thing in a fit of pique. And if I misspelled pique, or misspelled misspelled, it's because spell check isn't working, either).

  1. I used to place a period where I wanted spaces that blogger wouldn't allow. Haven't tried it lately.

    wondering if wordpress is easier?

  2. Is blogger going coo-coo again?

I love your fireworks of nature, so pretty!

  3. I have no idea... I hate when they redo or update stuff.. All it does is makes things worse...

  4. I can't even post. Keep getting this message: "Your browser is no longer supported by Blogger. Some parts of Blogger will not work and you may experience problems.
If you are having problems, try Google Chrome. | Dismiss" Well, trying Google Chrome has only put me into another kind of hell. GRRRRRRRRRRR!

  5. By the way, your flower is lovely. What is it?

  6. It's ages since I've tried to include more than one picture in a post. It sounds like I should maintain my trend. {I wish I'd had the chance to read those words before you piqued them off.}

  8. There should be a blog about Blogger. Lovely flower - is it a proteus?

I deleted my first post as I found a typo. How embbarrassing.

  9. The flower photos are beautiful.

You are on your own with blogger--I'm hopeless. But maybe you could try out some of the other templates. I looked to see what template I'm using. Simple template for Austin Suburbia, and I don't know what for Jean's Paintings, but apparently at some point I "customized" it.

  10. Oh, sigh, it sounds like we're all in the same boat. And Bayside, I use Chrome but it's pretty barebones. IE is just too slow.

On a happier note, the flower is a luecospermum. I bought it as a very small bush about 5 years ago -- drove up to Ojai to get it -- and now it's taller than I am and exploding with these wonderfully alien flowers. Bellis, it's in the family Proteaceae

  11. No, but, um, well, the photos are pretty dang gorgeous.

  12. I post to a Blogger site for The Carnival Band that is much more advanced than the Meandering In Lotus Land site and it gives me quite a bit of grief.

The MILL blog is basic and seems to work OK. The only problem I've had since they created the new format is that a couple of posts have not published according to the schedule I entered.

You'll get to the bottom of it KB.

  13. i had to google that flower.. wow its a protea!. gorgeous flower.

  14. I feel your pain Hiker...there's a little box in the bottom right corner of the screen that says feedback...I've already submitted a few choice words!!!

I don't get the importance of "New and Improved" when all that happens is what was once good is now lost and what's left is...well...it's crap!!!

  15. Oh...did I forget to mention how lovely your flower pics are?

  16. What Trish said works if your able to go over the period and change it to the background color. I do this on Word Press - and WP is not easy either - and you have to pay an additional 30 bucks a year if you wish to keep advertisements out. They place them in your comment section.

I have killed three proteus in my time. I gave up. Yours must be a left over from your tropical period. To hell with drought - keep her watered and happy. She is a beaut

  17. I heard a Firecracker last week. A sign we're almost in Summer.

Btw, to "put in space between my pictures and my text", ck out the blogger who posted "Your Carriage Awaits." He put in plenty of space between his pics & text.

  18. Me too, Chieftess. PA & Trish, that's too high maintenance for me. Shit, I'll sit down this week, read the incomprehensible instructions, and try to make Wayne proud.

Cafe, I like a lot of elbow room.

  21. "Can't space manually?",he queried, his tone pragmatic, brief and to the point, carefully concealing a lingering doubt as to the veracity of her rueful statements.

  22. Love the flowers, luecospermum - a totally new flower and word for me. They look like they are springing forth color.

As for the tech part: I use Mozilla Firefox for my browser, which seems to work well. When I post multiple pics in Blogger, I post one pic, then type an X on the line beneath it as a placeholder. Then hit Enter, to give an additional space. I do the same thing for the rest of the photos, then go back and type in my copy where the X is. Of course, you can also go to the HTML screen and use commands to get the spacing you want. But that's a pain sometimes.

  23. Reading lots of complaints. A bit scared to check it out.

  24. I'm with Chieftress on a lot of points. I think one of the small ways I work on my sanity is to not worry about what Blogger is going to do with spacing. It's not out of disrespect for the reader, more out of response of keeping me happy and sober. Otherwise it would be really easy to be driven to drink by Blogger.

  25. A while ago I was the one complaining about Blogger. Now it's everyone else.

What Ms. M said about spacing. I've always done that and it works fine. Plus, Blogger works really well in Firefox and as far as I know, not as well in other browsers.

Also, Blogger's spam filter is really good now. Like Karin, I don't use the word verification anymore. The spam comes to my email box but doesn't post on the blog. That way I can choose to post it or mark it as spam but my readers a) don't have to see it and b) don't have to type those fricking code words.

  26. @Latino Heritage...that said...a glass of wine while tangling with blogger can do wonders!!! Just be careful not to read the comments until you've swallowed!!!

  27. I think the first two photos are worth 1,000 words -- or 2,000.

  28. oh don't you just hate it when that happens...but fab snaps!!

  29. Oh those silly infrastructure builders at Google. Look at the unneeded changes Google + adn gmail suffers.

Now Blogspot, (yet again) is on the blueprint of erratic changes. Me thinks the peeps at Google are following the creators of facebook's lead and create change for the sake of change whether it works or not.

Drop IE like a lead balloon. Forget Chrome and blogger. Download Mozilla Firefox and WordPress.

OR, make yourself a pitcher of Gin and Tonics and forget this electronic mess. Of course an entire pitcher of G&T's may open another set of problems.

  30. Bandit, at that she giggled, charmingly.

Ms M, Roberta, and Chieftess, it all seems like too much bloody work. I have a theory that blogger is trying to make things frustrating so they can come along and offer to set things up for a fee. I'd pay it.

Steve & YAH, thanks so much.

  31. Every time you want a space between photos or paragraphs, you need to insert
at the end of the line where you want to break.

Well I just previewed my comment above and you can't see the html....Go to your Facebook page and I'll put the message there.

  32. Beautiful photos of gorgeous flower!

About the "improvements" of Blogger, I did not like it at all. They complicated that was simple! For me, that love to post huge photos, it is now more complicated... But I hope we will
    get easier...

  33. you can still use the old Blogger format. It's in there if you poke around. I hate this new format, I can't resize the pics.

    ReplyDelete
  34. You can resize the photos in the post, but you can't resize them in that weird slide show thing. I don't quite know what that's for, since when you click on it it usually makes the photos smaller.

In the post, click on the photo and you'll see options either above or below the photo for small, medium, large, X-large, or original size. Or am I the only one who has this? I feel like I got some weird form of Blogger since I'm the only one not complaining these days, yet a month ago I was the only one who was.

  35. The fireworks flower looks like it could be a sea creature too. Other-worldly and wonderful.

With all these blogger problems, perhaps it's just as well I never blog anymore.

  36. Didn't know what you were talking about until my blogger just switched over the new one. Super irritating . . . I don't have time to sit and learn new things these days . . . maybe Big sister can teach me in her spare time.
