Things to do in LA while ...

some guy named Steve makes things all better again.

Meet the adoptable at My Pet Garden on Colorado Boulevard. And wish Albert could work and play well with others.

Take some shots of a neon sign that has intrigued me for years.

I should have shot the sign five years ago. The non-smoking part ruins the entire noir effect, doesn't it. Why not gluten-free breakfasts and something for the lactose-intolerant while they're at it?

I want to meet Champ! He's adorable.

Any luck finding your missing laptop?

Missing laptop? I see I've missed at least one post. Better a missed post than a missing laptop, though. I echo Petrea's hopes, even in my ill-informed state. I wish Ella would place nicely with the other children, too. Champ is adorable. And nothing like a chicken. What in the hell were his original owners thinking.

I want Champ! Thank goodness he was rescued. The Lancaster "shelter" is awful, and anyone brave/strong enough to pull a dog out of there deserves a medal. Agree with you about Hiway Host, and wondering how you're getting around while Steve has the car?

Champ looks adorable!

I hope you have finding your laptop!

First of all it breaks my heart to read stories on how animals are treated... I too would love to have Champ but with a cat who only knows one on one attention, it may be stressful for all.. Hope u are keeping positive thoughts on your laptop...

Champ is so sweet -- a Jack Russell-ish who doesn't get all up in your face about it. He's just happy to find the world isn't a filthy chicken coop.

I guess I'll get a new laptop; they're cheaper than they were five years ago. Maybe an acer or another ugly Dell. Kind of wanted to get an Apple so I wouldn't look like such a hayseed, but they're twice as much.

how about and hp? i've got one and haven't had any issues... i like the look of an apple- keyboard is nicer..

Does anyone know what's happened to Blogger's RSS feed? There's no longer an option to follow comments, or to follow blogs, for that matter. Am I the only one?

So you think by hanging out in skanky motel parking lots you'll find Nelly?

altadenahiker said...

Of all the gin joints in all the world, Nelly might walk into this one.

I hope Champ finds a loving home soon.

Old signs like these are great. I should take some of the few remaining ones in Boise!

ok, on my phone, the first shot looked like someone dumped a load from a horse stall...I was gonna get even more ticked...then biggified the pic and understood!

Dell or HP with a service contract should work just fine, and find Carbonite (CEO just refused to put ads in for Rush's radio shows) to back it up with.

I think a little cropping out of the non smoking portion of the photo will help make it pass as more aged.

Champ is adorable, hope a new forever home is found soon!

Petrea---no clue---must be a "feature" not a bug! sigh!

When my bike got stolen I drove over to the street where all the registered sex offenders live to see if it was hanging out down there. I was ready to kick some...I think there's something about being violated that brings out the sketchy side of a person...

Oh, Paula, that's so funny. I took a walk late last night past some of the usual crack suspects. Of course, I didn't see Nelly in the front yard, but I cast a dirty look in their direction. That'll scare 'em.

Trish, I expect I will end up with an HP or Dell. A most intelligent friend of mine will weigh in on the best choice.

Kenny Mac, I toldja.

My Mac G4 laptop is about to die. It's 13 years old and has had two owners. We both used it to death and it has never, ever had a problem except that it's old and can no longer support some of the newer platforms. So it's slowing down.
I bought my desktop Mac 3 years ago. A brief learning curve to change over from PC and after that, smooth sailing. No glitches, no viruses, no trips to the repair shop, no little red cars with "WE FIX COMPUTERS" logos parked in front of my house.

It's worth the money, as long as you don't plan to leave it in your car again.

I wish my Steve would let us get a second dog, although I think Scout likes being an only dog.

My free tip: Always have a rug in your backseat to cover the laptop when leaving the car.

I'm sorry to hear about your losses (Nelly and your writing).

He's a cutie and I hope he gets a great home! These days, I only but laptops from Costco. They seem to have the best deals around.
Love the sign and you are right about the non-smoking sign! Darn it!

Love Champ. Love the noir sign, even as a non-smoking gluten-intolerant.

Champ is absolutely adorable!!! What a face.

HiWay Host was a chain of motels from back in the day, before the freeways, which dotted the southern part of the United States from Florida to California. Not many left.

Hope Champ gets a good new "forever" home!!!

Love the sign...

Go for the Mac!!! Ditto to Petrea's comments about changing to a Mac...I had a friend at the photo school I went to that bought a used Mac from a graphic designer who swapped out his Mac's every year, whether they needed it or not...got a great deal...I think she found it on ebay or Craig's list...

I've lost the reply option too Petrea! I just looked at the new updated format designs preview and there's a reply option there...problem is, the new formats are to tech-y and not as fun...at least not the previews!!!

Oh, Champ. I feel for you. I've got an eye infection that's making me miserable. Mine, however, should go away and was not caused by life in a chicken coop. Whoever "owned" you deserves a place in hell, alongside the thieves that took Nelly-Bell.
