At the Huntington

Horsetails against the Conservatory. Packing a concealed weapon -- Canon at ISO 800, white balance cloudy, and some other dial.

I think I've either captured an abstract, or the shower curtain I've always wanted.

  1. I like it. Is cloudy white balance supposed to be a bad thing?

  2. I'll take it for a shower curtain as well as a print for my wall.

  6. So that's how they design shower curtains! I want one.

  7. I like it. Lots of tension between the bright spot and vertical lines.

If your camera has a spot meter feature try this. When you have a very contrasty scene, set your meter on spot, the camera on manual and read the brightest area. Increase the f-stop by one and take the shot. You should get some detail in the brights. Everything else will be darker though.

    Have fun.

  8. That makes a very pretty shower curtain. Perhaps you can start a new career as a textile designer.

  9. "..or the shower curtain I've always wanted."

I may be a little sleep-deprived but this is undoubtedly the funniest thing I'll read all day.

  10. It's ever so lovely - but what do you know about planting horsetails?

  11. Someone should do a painting of this. It could look really great. Maybe it could even make the inside of the Huntington.

  12. I think Tony's passing on my shower curtain. He wants the flower print.

  15. Hey, can you sneak me into the special, "employees Only" sections?

  16. Laurie's is a lovely abstract, Earl, but I don't think it qualifies as shower curtain material.
