  7. Karin,
I just got back in town after two weeks and read the sad news. Kathy and I, along with Kelly Girl, send our hugs and love. As you know, we recently experienced the same with the loss of our beloved Miss Daisy. It will slowly get better with time, but never go away. Enjoy your memories of a very special friend whose life was much richer for your presence.

  12. She couldn't stand up for long -- and man, I thought we had a week or four. This morning, she couldn't stand up for the important issues. And then she looked at me, when she fell, straight in the eyes, with distress and wanting answers. And there was only one.

  13. When the get old and infirm, they have a way of letting us know when it's time. Daisy did the same - we were blessed with four months when the doctor said much less. One day, she simply quit and we knew what we had to do. That makes it a little bit easier. Not much, but a little bit.

  14. Too much of water hast thou, poor Ophelia,
And therefore I forbid my tears: but yet
It is our trick; nature her custom holds,
Let shame say what it will: when these are gone,
The woman will be out. Adieu, my lord:
I have a speech of fire, that fain would blaze,
But that this folly douts it.

  15. And in her eyes you saw her love and her need for you to make the hard choices. She looked to you for care, and despite your own pain, you did what she needed.

  17. I've seen that fall, and experienced that silent look that shakes the soul. Unfortunately in this life love comes with a cost. I'm very sorry, KB.

  20. I guess there was no doubt about the When, but I hope you're still giving yourself some credit for not waiting too long. I feel as if I can see the look she gave you . . . . So sorry.

They let you know when it's time. You let her know how much you love her by being there when she needs you most.

    Sending love,

  29. well, double damn!

I was hoping you had more time.

I'm not at the hairdressers like WCGB, but I'm crying too. Thankfully, the only being near me at the moment is an elderly cat who doesn't care why I'm crying, but does want treats and a lap.

I know the look---it says more than any words any animal could ever speak.

Know that you gave Phoebe an excellent life and loved her fully--and she knew that.

wv: how do they know? bummer

  30. Aww. I'm so sorry. Even when they are old, and have had a good life, it is still so hard when we must help them go on without us.
