They are not merely throw rugs, food-vacuums, or bench warmers. They are contributing members to this household.
When I'm away, Albert patrols the grounds.
And Phoebe guards the house.
Tiger Mom? I wear my stripes proudly.

Your pups rock my damn world. I live for these posts and the outstanding photos.

Maybe you err on the side of son of tiger mom
btw: I just shoved Peoples out the front door so he can guard the house while I take a walk
btw: my curet post went 12 hours without a comment
btw: Pheobe could use some eye liner
Boz keeps the air fresh over here. And guards the place, of course. Two teenage girls ran when they saw him on the porch, I kid you not.
Miss Daisy greets all visitors and is my photography pal...she's doing well, although she gets pretty tired after an excursion...right now she's laying guard by the top of the stairs watching for the Chief to come home!!!
Everyone needs meanigful work and Albert and Miss Phoebe are definitely established professionals there at Chez Hiker.
Our Ranger's job is to remind us that you're only as young as your last crazy moment, William's job is to remind us to slow down and plotz for a while, Keating's job is to teach us to welcome new friends into our lives, and Miss Digit taught us how to leave this world with grace and dignity no matter how an illness might reduce us. Pets are just the best.
You didn't show the photo the two saluting you???
PS Is that a shop vac??
But do they know 1,000 words? Clearly you coddle.
Ha! Such industrious pooches.
I just KNEW Tiger Mama had to fit in here some how--
Pardon me while PJ and I discuss vacuums. The shop vac is my new obsession. Oh, you Hoover and Bissel fools! Come to the light.
They look like go-getters.
go get-her nap, I think.
Phoebe is convinced you live in a very safe 'hood, KB. They are such honeys.
Love to know Albert and Phoebe!
And Phoebe guarding the house make me smile!
Yup, I can see who rules that household.
Hey, Dakota and Phoebe must have graduated from the same "guarding-the-house-School." Though my gal sleeps outside on her very puffy bed and lets absolutely anybody get to the door. But when she's awake, watch out.
I've been out of commission for a while but your posts have kept me smiling.
Phoebe could also give yawning instruction ....ha!
wow, you sad, you loved that guy.
D.
Btw: what's the 401K?
Yes, Albert's equally impressive. Normally he's in the chaise lounge, under the sun umbrella. The better to see burglars, my dear.
An impressive work ethic you have going there......of course they give literary advice in a pinch too.
I'm now picturing Albert wearing sunglasses and a tankini.
Boz and his lieutenant have just returned from an extensive perimeter check. All's quiet on the front.
Petrea, I love how all my male pets do that. They seem so satisfied when they've finished their rounds.
lol...love it!
we have one client with a yellow lab who jokingly instructs me to make sure the ice in the mai tai for the dog is perfect temperature, the little umbrella is at the right angle for him to slurp it up and the chaise is angled towards the best sun exposure. Amazingly enough, the dog only cares about my whiskey ONLY if it has ice cubes in it. Smart dog!
Another dog we know has actually worn a path in the grass out back from his patrols of the flank of the property...he's SO proud of his job!
keep up the good work "taskmaster mom!"
wv: hirest...depends on where you cut the syllable...hire-st, you're a good mom, you hired the bestest pups; hi-rest, you're the best, letting them rest the best!
Which one plays the piano and which one plays the violin?
WV: matubsim.
I kid you not.
Hmmmmm....Phoebe might need a refresher course in "guarding". Eyes forward, soldier!
Ha ha! Albert wants a flak jacket, given the lack of reliable troops at the ready. Phoebe doesn't have his back as she's otherwise engaged -- busy guarding the mattress.
how did you know there was/is a steam radiator in the background? It's so damn hot I have to open the windows...ha!
Nothing like a good working dog.
wv: cofelyt - Grandma's old quilt
Some funny lines here. SMILE!
I think I could learn a thing or two from Phoebe. I need more of that sort of work! I'm totally in love with Big Red, even if he doesn't have a 401K. Hope he's soon in a happy home.
I love that you love pooches. I can't imagine life without mine.
Great post! Love them pups! Now if only our cats could be trained to dust or clean up their hair balls...
