Giddy

In the land of the parched and terminally thirsty, the first autumn rain is a long tall drink of water. It feels like the beginning of the world.

You sent up the CEA signal over Gothamdena?

AH, knockout photos and poem.

Your photos are amazing, and you put it so well. It's the surprise start of a new world of greenery and moisture, but so unexpected that I carried on wearing my clothes planned for yesterday's weather - cool, cool cottons when I really needed a sweater, raincoat and boots.

It's wonderful.

Oh, and the last photo is fantastic--what a perfect way to capture a mood.

Hallelujah! Hard to believe it was 113 degrees a week ago.

Beautifully said. Love the photo of Albert - or Albert's ghost?

...except the beginning was warmer (I'd hope).
very poetic post - the images and the words.

Speakig of such things, we've had the wettest and coldest September on record, and our dams are over 90% capacity now. After years of drought. We didn't know if we'd see that again. Enjoy your autumn rain, KB. {Love that photo!}

Susan, it's Albert the Annointed. Or evolving.

Paula, I can't find CEA except as a disease. A sci fi ref?

Thanks, Jean.

Oh Christina, I wish I had sown my seeds last week.

Are you cold, Tash?

Shell, I can't imagine we'll ever get that kind of rain, although we had something pretty dramatic about 5 years ago.

I especially like the pooch profile.

I thought the same thing about my seeds--wish they had gone in last week.

Your rain noir pooch is fantastic.

Isn't the rain great???

Beautiful, and hopeful. Good news from Shell, too. I read dire predictions about the world's water situation. I want them to be wrong.

Jean Spitzer said...

AH, my guess is that CEA is a reference to California Earthquake Authority. Paula, did I get it?

my wv doesn't think so: colda

We had 9" in 36 hours last week, and more yesterday, today and tomorrow. How much rain would you like me to send to you?

Carolynn said...

Oh boy...we should do a little house swapping....

altadenahiker said...

More to come, it looks like, so I've got a date with some lettuce seeds.

Sounds like spring!

I am currently in love with autumn here, too!♥

Speakig??? Clearly I shouldn't leave comments when my eyes are so tired. Or my brain! To clarify, all of that rain didn't happen in September. A healthy volume did, but the rest has been accumulating for a while. So there's hope for you, KB.

altadenahiker said...

Oh Paula, you got us. But Jean's guess was good.

Shell, I thought perhaps you had one too many nips in the gondola.

Linda, spring in Canada.

Kaori, me too. My favorite season.

Anne, way too kind.

Margaret said...

You are a poet, too.

Paula said...

It looks like you might have been walking in the rain? Lovely effect in the photos either way.

Jean's guess was better than mine as well. I wasn't sure if it was Herr Albert or Fraulein Phoebe...Did he answer the call?

I'm glad it has cooled down for everyone. Ranger is less grouchy now that it's cooled down here. Ok, everyone is less grouchy.

Every time I think I like the snarky you better, your poetic side just bowls me over. Well played, Karin.

Yes, tho Miss J hopes its not the end of the growing season. She finally has a few decent tomatoes and they have a ways to go!

Indian summer here, arrived a week early.
I'm blinded by the light, heat and intense colors...blows my mind.

If you had put a go-go dancer in place of that dog, this dog wood say, imho, that this post wooda been even better! ImHo, i.e.

We've begun our Indian Summer again...the snow is melting...which is a good thing!!!! Early snows and snow melt apparently create a surface that holds the following snows much more firmly, creating a better ski surface...who'd a thought???

PS- Love Albert's alter ego photo!!!
