Global Warming: Now It's Personal

The only time you should use links on your blog is when you’re uninspired, lazy, or it’s 105 degrees in the shade.

I'm uninspired, lazy, and it’s 105 degrees in the shade. And I find myself not so much irritated as exacting.

I counseled Albert this morning when I tripped over one of his toys.

I did not let it pass when the 7/11 guys charged 5 cents too much for my Diet Coke.

I called So Cal Ed to let them know my electricity was out.

Pay your bill, KB.

Wonderful, KB. The last one reminded me of what I say when I keep getting recordings on the phone when I need HELP. I'm beginning to wonder if they record you and someone hears what you've said to the "voice" before a live person comes on.

it's Edison out there too? DUH

Oh, no. Power outage. Hope it was brief.

Loved the links.

Come up to Canada Karin, there'll be snow up to your knees in a month or so. :-)

Glad you've got everything under control.

I"m sorry, I don't mean to ROTF and LMAO, but wasn't it just a few short weeks ago that you all were all bundled up with polar fleece and hot cocoa, because there was a bit of a nip in the air???? Well cry me a damn river.

I have one more link in reserve, Virg. Don't make me play it.

Mister Earl said...

Play it! If she can take it, I can take it, Sam. Play it.

Petrea said...

Haha, Virg!

I think links can also be used when one doesn't wish to plagiarize, but that's just me.

Margaret said...

Hmmm. Hmmmm. Maybe you should come over and we'll squander the air conditioning.

Just too darn funny!
Strangely enough, our summer seems to have just started. the first "hot" days of the year were during the last week.

conserve your energy, link away!

Another classic. Middle video made me laugh out loud.

I don't have AC so I'm on the verge too.

Tomorrow will be cooler... right?

altadenahiker said...

If it's not, Susan, let's paint some eyebrows and go scare some 7/11 guys.

Dayam AH!!! Only you can make me laugh out loud with such a short and sweet (or should that be sweat) post!!! And Virginia, I do believe you're right...but we native SoCalifornians are self ascribed weenies when it comes to temperature variations...lower than 70 and we freeze, higher than 89 and we're sweatin' like the Trevi Fountain!!!

Wire hangers do make a mess of one's clothes, I have to agree. I hope it cools down for you pronto, KB.

Hysterical videos, and your captions are perfect. I’m trying not to imagine 105 and no power. Are people chanting, “But it’s a DRY heat”???

The dingno ate your baby?

At least Albert will listen to reason!

hold me, I'm scared!

Pasadena Adjacent said...

Yes, piss on my parade with the link-in judgments will ya.

altadenahiker said...

Bandit, go hold Rob, you're closer.

Two more days of this weather, then, get this, it will be in the 60s on Sunday. or so they say.

Carolynn said...

Oh, there are a few clients I could use your 7/11 strategy with....'nuff said.

Petrea said...

PA, link away. They say the internet likes likes. We're living in the 21st century now.

It's only going to be 99 degrees today. I'm heading out to run errands. You know me, I love the heat.

BaysideLife said...

I played that role before Peter O'Toole did. But he was pretty good.
Hope you got your power back. I can't imagine no AC in 105F.

What really scares me is that you knew how to find these clips. Frankly, I opened the first one and closed it right away. Mommy!!!! They seem less scary in the daylight. Last summer I clocked 108 in the shade but I did have AC and this is, after all, Florida. I hope you're doing better today. I can just see you, Albert, Phoebe & Co in the kiddy pool sipping a fruit drink.

Right now, I must admit, I'm comforted by the two time zones separating us, Karin.

TheChieftess said...

I hate to say it Banjo...but after the heat and high humidity in Rome a few weeks ago, my trek into Bishop CA in hotter, but exceptionally dry heat, was a welcome change!!! It really is easier to deal with...

Pasadena Adjacent said...

I'm cooked. Headed to Palos Verdes.

altadenahiker said...

I know I'm not supposed to laugh at my own blog, but really, the second one breaks me up. (AC is up and running. I just got home and it's a chilly 80 degrees inside.)

altadenahiker said...

I must say, the boys around here are easily scared. Just wait until Carolynn, Susan, and I get our eyebrows on a come knocking at your door.

Brenda's Arizona said...

Albert can come stay here. Phoebe, too.
The rest is just too scary to touch.

Yep, still hot as hell outside. One thing I'll say for these days is that I'm happy to come into the office.

So what time are we heading out to scare the 7/11 boys?

I just watched that second video again. Ha! Faye Dunaway is brilliant.

Mister Earl said...

If I had Steve Balmer's good fortune, with the emphasis on fortune, I'd be jumping around too.

80 degrees, AH? Come on over here where it's 72.

altadenahiker said...

PA, I should have said gratuitous links -- that wouldn't be yours, that would be, oh right, mine!

Susan, let's go scare Earl, instead. Janey can help; she's an actress.

Bhavesh Chhatbar said...

You're funny :)

Virginia said...

You are all a bunch of weenies. I'll just sit back here on my patio where it's a blissful 98 and has been since Easter. Don't mind me. I have to have a fan practically in the bed with me at night ( plus AC) but that just verifies my "Hot Momma" status. Gee I hope that cold snap this weekend doesn't send you all to a shelter for socks and sweaters.

TheChieftess said...

My cousin's daughter lives in Studio City, SoCal...she reported 113 degrees today!!! I drove to Bishop and it was a cool 98...and I do mean, cool!!! It's frequently over 100 there...today at noon they had thunder showers and when I was there, there was a brisk breeze which kept it cool...I know that this time I wasn't the hot mama Virginia is!!!

Laurie said...

I just woke up Little Bit shrieking at that O'Toole clip.

The middle Mommie Dearest one always gets me, too. What a line. I dare you to say that to someone for real. Seriously. I'll give you a dollar!

altadenahiker said...

Not even for 10 whole dollars.
