Ahh! Just what you needed. She's the most unusual looking cat I've ever seen. I thought the third picture was a bronze sculpture at first.
She's exquisite. A baby Bastet. I love her
Unusual in body and spirit. When someone comes to the front door, she'll run up to greet them like they're long lost friends -- "Hi, I've been waiting for you. Can I get you anything -- a little milk or some tuna? Maybe you want to scratch my head a little?"
Newt is a very clever kitty. A bit, um...unusual looking, but clearly very intelligent. Perhaps she's decided this is the best place to wait for her spaceship to arrive. All kidding aside, she sounds like a love. Proving once again, that looks aren't everything, although, she's kinda growing on me. Very exotic.
You're a soft touch.
Have you named her? (I mean, she probably already has a name, but what do YOU call her?)

I"m sorry but that cat really creeps me out. I'm sure I just lost about a zillion friends via that comment but if she had shown up at my door I would have screamed! I'm glad you're a nicer person than I obviously am!
In my defense I started feeding a cat that i thought had wandered away from home. A few weeks later I learned that he lived... right next door! I'm a dork.
Just to clarify, because I know I used Newt the Metaphor a couple of posts ago, she has a good home a couple of houses away. She's a free spirit; Newt's gonna do what Newt wants to do. And what she wants to do at this time is camp out here. Which is more than fine with me. (She'd win you over, Virg. Trust me.)

She reminds a LOT of a dog I had as a kid of 9 or so. He came with the county fair, about a half-mile away. A couple of friends and I gave him a bowl of milk. They already had dogs of their own, so the rest is history. Named him Skinny, which was descriptive.
He was a terrier mutt, and I think that's the kind of dog Faulkner means when he refers to a "feist." So I looked 'em up and found that they're basically (entirely?) rat terriers, and one variety is hairless.
But I'm afraid I'm still with those who think you need to knit Newt a sweater. And maybe some botox?

I'm a cat lover, and I have to say my initial reaction to those pictures is alarm! But as you said to Virginia, I believe she could win me over. There's something endearing about her face in that first pic, even though her body looks as much like a bat as a cat.
I imagine our Newfoundland, Aussie shepherd, or Persian kitten doesn't consider us much in the looks department, either.
How come, I wonder, that when it comes to animals, aestheically, we only like our humans naked?

Not a cat person, but Newt could camp out with me anytime. Very kind of you to make her such a comfy bed. Camp Karen seems to have great amenities. (Imagine having an animal that doesn't shed, unlike my lovable hairball.! Boggles the mind.)

Thanks for the vote of confidence KB, but I just got another shiver. I"m a dog person and not many cats turn my crank as W might say. You just keep on feeding her and send Albert and the Phoebster to Camp Virg. I'll leave the light on and the gate open.

In college, my roommate and I had a cat named Ted. He disappeared for a week and Lyndal (roomie) was brokenhearted. She finally found him a couple of blocks away where someone had been feeding him. The woman scolded Lyndal ("If you would feed him he wouldn't run away"). But of course we were feeding him. Ted knew how to play his cards right.
I'm just sayin'.
Thanks for the painting tip. I went to website and loved the colors. Most bloggers were suggesting blue and I had already ruled that color out, but the soft yellow is perfect. I had a yellow bedroom in the last house I lived in and loved it.
Many years ago, when Richard Riordan became mayor of Los Angeles, he proposed passing an ordinance requiring that cats be licensed like dogs in order to raise additional revenue. The City Council held hearings and one gentleman said that a cat showed up at his house regularly. He started feeding it and it spent a lot of time there so he figured it was his. Wanting to be a good owner, he got a collar and a tag with his name an number. Within a week he got two angry calls from neighbors who wanted to know why he had stolen his cat. It seemed the cat had three homes he visited, and each owner thought the cat belonged to them.
That ended the debate and the City never adopted required cats to be licensed since no one really owns a cat.
It depends on their age. We have half an acre, our elderly kitties patrol their half an acre and half an acre only but your point is well taken. And the cat people -vs- dog people debate rages on. Me, I'm a little of both.

DB, bandit and others are reminding me of T.C. Boyle's story, "Question 62," in which one character is a songbird fanatic who's trying to place an "open season on cats" on the next ballot.
Newt looks like she's about to give you what-for. Glad she's staying at Camp Karin. She'll like it there.

Ah, thanks for the catnip, Christina. The jury's out. I put it in a sock and she rolls on it from time to time, like she's trying to make up her mind.

No bull, Banjo, I used to own cats.
Pooh, a mix female multiple owner cat, who would take walks with me and bring me dismembered game, cute little bunnies and birds and stuff, and Pip and Lotus, two foundling kittens who we nursed back from bouts of distemper. Those two were not allowed to be free roaming cats. (turns out I'm allergic to cats) I'm a dog guy now, in more ways than one.
We had a community of feral cats nearby, about 70 or 80 all told.
(There were efforts to spay and nueter them all to relieve pressure on the population)
Did you know that a starving cat population will breed in earnest to continue the line?
One of our first immigrant refugee newcomer groups used to capture and eat them, not realizing the importance we place on our "beloved pets".
I never met a cat I didn't like.
It's a drag though to find cat scat when weeding your garden, or you let the dogs out in the yard and little Dottie gets a scratch on her retina from a stray, repaired at no small expense.
I just wish people would be more considerate when a pet for their own pleasure.
