Some Days

Some days belong to you, and some days don't. And when it's not your day, everything will cost a little too much, hurt more than it should, last a little too long.

You can say that again, KB! In fact, continue on with developing this posting:

"And when it's not your day, it will last a little longer so you can remember it."

Btw, how's the camera working?

The wind was a torrent of darkness upon the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight looping the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding -
Riding - riding -
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn door.

Defiantly a decent resolution camera:

I see hay on the ground and three long shadows from some unidentifiable object. Albert is definitely alert and tugging on the chock chain.

The tree is quivering from the vibrations of a low flying object coming in quick behind the tree.

Tell us all about the alien abduction as soon as you've safely returned to earth.

It's taken me six tries to get the gist of this post. Obvy, not my day. Still, I did make 8 half-pints of clementine marmalade and my girl cat is sitting (literally) in the chair with me, purring madly. Maybe that's all I was meant to receive today. It's enough.

And when those days happen I say you need three things.

1. chocolate and/or ice cream, and/or pudding.

2. Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.

3. The New Yorker.

We all have those days, I'm told. When I'm having one I think I'm the only one who has them.

I like Margaret's suggestions. For me, it's:

1. solitude
2. organize my desk
3. write something
4. the chaos of nature
5. dog kisses (I'm sure you can get those)
not necessarily in that, uh, order.

I compose a list of jobbies that give me the semblance of being in control:

Pay bills
File (even if only in round cabinet)
Weed
Move pots around courtyard
Wash floors

all to either Brahms or Bach or Sorrowful Songs or Avo Part ...

I sure appreciate these suggestions.

I finally got around myself the next day. Even tho still sort of in the dumps, I thought: Ok, this day doesn't look any better YET. But what if, just what if something great happens today. Better be ready for it.

(Yeah, I know. That's why I don't give motivational speeches.)

Stick around for the day I have to leave Paris. That'll be a day to reckon with.

Time to pack-up and come camping - watch the dogs jump in the lake.
(Then there is that scene of Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy jumping in the lake.)
